Organisation
The programme of the Grosse Halle is developed in collaboration with external groups, collectives, event organisers, and institutions. Through this process, a diverse programme emerges, consisting of rentals, co-productions, and in-house productions.
The Grosse Halle is rented by cultural organisers. For each event, a rental fee is charged that is tailored to the project, its scale, and its financial resources.
As an association, the Grosse Halle is not profit-oriented. Subsidies from the City of Bern flow directly into rentals and co-productions: cultural practitioners benefit from reduced rental rates, and the Grosse Halle provides technical support on site.
Financially stronger projects, together with subsidies from the City of Bern, help finance projects and institutions with fewer resources. Any surplus generated is reinvested in maintenance and technical infrastructure, as well as in less well-funded cultural projects and solidarity-based events.
Anyone wishing to rent the Grosse Halle can send us an inquiry. Each project is discussed within the team and evaluated according to the following criteria:
Time: Is the Grosse Halle available on the requested date?
Space: Does the project fit the spatial conditions? Can the space be adapted accordingly?
Content: Does the project contribute to social exchange or community-building? Is it compatible with our awareness concept? Does the format fit within a balanced programme (e.g. theatre and dance productions, concerts, festivals, markets, celebrations, themed days, tournaments, training sessions, workshops, etc.)?
All inquiries can be sent to info@grossehalle.ch.
